Apple Updates App Store Payment Rules to Allow Developers Contact Customers Directly


Apple has updated its App Store rules so that developers can directly contact users about payments, a concession in legal agreements with companies challenging its tightly controlled market.

According to app Store rules Updates On Friday, developers can now contact consumers directly about alternative payment methods, bypassing Apple’s commission of 15 or 30 percent.

“As long as this request remains optional, they will be able to ask users for basic information such as names and e-mail addresses,” the iPhone maker said.

Apple In August proposed changes to the legal agreement with small app developers.

But concessionaires are unlikely to satisfy firms like fortnite developer epic games, with which the tech giant is battling a drawn-out controversy over its payment policy.
