Google Meet Introduces New Immersive Backgrounds for Video Calls on Web

Google Meet has added new immersive backgrounds and styles that allow web users to change their background during a video call. The platform has added two new animated backdrops called Cafe and Kondo that will help users represent their current time zone and climate. Both interiors will have several iterations, including rainy, sunny or snowy weather with morning and night time zones. Google Meet previously offered background options including Classroom, Party, and Jungle. Additionally, Google Meet is offering several light and color filters to customize the video and the option to add more stylish backgrounds.

Google on 17 November announced new update for google meet via a blog post. Google said five new immersive, subtle animations will bring backgrounds to life or change lighting settings. As mentioned, Google Meet desktop users can select Condo (morning or night) and Cafe (rainy, snowy, or sunny) for animated video backgrounds before joining the call or during the call from the Effects settings panel. New animated background options are being released for Google Workspace customers and G Suite Basic and Business customers. Personal Google accounts cannot currently take advantage of this.
