India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I Live Cricket Updates: KL Rahul’s fifty has put India in command in their chase after the team’s bowlers restricted New Zealand to a total of 153/6 in 20 overs, despite an electric start from opener Martin Guptill, who surpassed Virat Kohli in the list of highest run-getters in T20Is. Guptill was dismissed for 31 by Deepak Chahar and the Indian spin duo of Axar Patel (1/26) and Ravichandran Ashwin (1/19) tightened the screws on the Blackcaps thereafter. Debutant Harshal Patel starred with the ball as he picked up the wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips to further dent Kiwis’ progress. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar were taken for plenty in the powerplay but came back strong as India didn’t allow New Zealand to post a big total. Earlier, Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to field, citing the dew factor. Harshal Patel has been handed a debut at the expense of Mohammed Siraj, who picked up an injury according to the Indian captain. India will be looking to clinch the series vs New Zealand in Ranchi as they take on the 2021 T20 World Cup finalists in the second T20I match at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. Rohit Sharma started his journey as the full-time T20I captain of Team India in fine fashion with a five-wicket win in Jaipur. The new-look Indian team welcomed back the likes of Shreyas Iyer into the side, who was recovering from an injury. Venkatesh Iyer didn’t have much to show as he stayed at the crease for a brief period in the last over of the match and also wasn’t picked to bowl by Rohit. New Zealand, on the other hand, will aim to get back on the winning track and challenge the home team with a much better display.

Here are the two playing XIs

New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert (wk), James Neesham, Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee(c), Adam Milne, Trent Boult

India: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel
