Honor Magic V Officially Teased as the Company’s First Foldable Smartphone


Honor has officially revealed that it is working on a flagship foldable smartphone – the Honor Magic V. A teaser shared by the brand offers a glimpse of the foldable smartphone. The image does not indicate whether it is a book-like hinge or a clamshell fold design. The Honor Magic V is also tipped to sport flat edges. The company has not disclosed further details. However, a recent leak has indicated that this flagship smartphone may debut in the Chinese market in January 2022.

The launch price of this foldable phone can be CNY 10,000 (about Rs 1.18 lakh).

Honor was initially founded by Huawei To compete globally and in the mid-range market in China. The brand later split from its parent company Huawei in 2020 after being subjected to sanctions by the US. The company recently launched Honor Play 30 Plus 5G Smartphones in China. The price of this handset starts from CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs 13,100). The pre-orders for this started on December 16 and its sale will start from December 31.

Honor Play 30 Plus 5G is a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone that runs on Android 11-based Magic UI 5.0. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and has 128GB of onboard storage as standard. Its 6.74-inch TFT LCD screen offers a resolution of 1,600×720 pixels with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The rear camera module of the handset sports a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor. It is also equipped with a 5-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. It houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging.
