Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G First Impressions: Can it Take Charge?


Xiaomi has launched two new smartphones Xiaomi 11i 5G and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G to launch in 2022. Both these smartphones are almost identical but their battery capacity and charging speed are slightly different. The latter model is grabbing all the headlines due to its ability to charge incredibly fast. The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G comes with a 120W charger, and Xiaomi claims it can reach 100 percent in just 15 minutes. I got my hands on the new phone, and here’s my first impression.

Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge 5G Price in India starts from Rs. 26,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The second variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs Rs. 28,999. Xiaomi Also giving New Year’s discount of limited duration of Rs. 1,500, while SBI Bank card holders can avail additional Rs. can take advantage of. 2,500 as cashback. The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G is available in four color options: Pacific Pearl, Purple Mist, Camo Green and Stealth Black. Its sale in India will start on January 12 at 12 noon.

Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G Design and Features

The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G has a new design with flattened edges and rounded corners, and it is quite comfortable to hold. At 8.34mm thickness, the phone still feels slim, though the 204g weight is noticeable. The frame seems to be made of polycarbonate while the back panel is glass.

Sticking to the current trend of side-mounted fingerprint scanners, the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G houses the scanner on the right side along with the volume buttons. The phone also has stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR emitter that is ubiquitous on Xiaomi smartphones.

The Camo Green variant of the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G has a matte finish on the back panel. This creates a dual-tone effect, and the green hue is only noticeable when the light hits it at an angle. With only ‘Xiaomi 5G’ branding on the back, I quite liked the minimalist design of this smartphone. The camera is bigger than the module Mi 10i ,Review) and turns out quite a lot. It has three cameras, a 108-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a 5-megapixel macro camera. For selfie, this phone has a 16-megapixel front camera.

Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G is powered by the recently launched MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC Vivo V23, Both the variants only have 128GB of storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card in the hybrid dual-SIM tray.

The phone runs MIUI 11 based on Android 12.5, and my unit had the September Android security patch. It comes with several MIUI features and some preinstalled apps that can be uninstalled.

The camera module on the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge is quite protruding

On the front, the large 6.67-inch AMOLED display sports a small hole-punch cutout and thin bezels on the sides. It has full-HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The highlight of the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G is the 120W fast charging support. Xiaomi bundles a 120W charger in the box, and it’s one of the biggest chargers I’ve seen bundled with a smartphone. It has a full-sized USB Type-A port, and you also get a Type-A to Type-C cable with this phone. The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge 5G packs a 4,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can be fully charged in just 15 minutes. I look forward to testing these charging claims in full review.

With prices starting from Rs. 26,999 for the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G, Xiaomi is trying to differentiate the hyper-charging capability of the phone in the crowded segment.
